Toshiba may have a decent name for anybody who remembers office laptops in the 2000s and VCRs in the 80's, but Toshiba no longer has that brand reputation. In fact it's been on the brink of bankruptcy for most of this decade due to dodgy accounting and bad investments (buying nuclear power plants from Westinghouse for one). From 'memory', Toshiba got into the memory business by buying OCZ - if any of you bought an early SSD drive for your PC, you may remember them. Go to any retail store and see how many electronics (TVs, laptops, recorders) still have the Toshiba name on them.
