What makes you think the announcement won't be until October? They haven't missed a deadline yet, why would this time be any different?
As for more iterations... That's possible, after all, last announcement said this iteration is potentially the last. But I don't think a line like that was dropped unless there was a real chance of that happening.
Let's hope that we move on to megabit chip integration after this iteration.
