    From the moment Optane was released it got a bad rap IMO - it didn't really do anything, or the performance gain didn't justify the extra expense.

    Lots of tech guys looking at it would perform system tests with and without Optane and they couldn't demonstrate the benefit. People were really excited by the concept but the reality didn't live up to the hype.
