The way I see it, a company like Samsung has the means to implement RERAM into a DIMM module (what DRAM comes on) and has the knowledge to write onboard management software and drivers that allow a system to allocate data into system memory so it sits in the right spot.
That way, you're not needing to change computer system architecture to make a space for RERAM. You're just plugging it into a space that already exists on the system:
Dynamic data sits in DRAM as it moves in and out of L1, L2 cache and the CPU.
Static data that is read, but not altered goes to sit in RERAM.
4DS doesn't have that knowledge - it just has a design for the memory cells that makes the above possible.
