Be wary of all the hopium/copium being spread by some posters here.

The part highlighted in green, "It reinforces that imec has confidence in the success of 4DS' technology" is a statement and interpretation by 4DS, not IMEC. And such a renewal as @DrunkNinja has pointed out, is to the benefit of IMEC receiving $$ from 4DS. The royalties are potentially a sweetener from the agreement. One that may not eventuate but money is in the bank nonetheless. I can't find any other instance of a royalty agreement IMEC have with an R&D, let alone any company they've worked with. Would be keen to hear if anyone knows of any instance. This is important in understanding that statement.
