Wilbert said this because in theory our memory can eventually replace DRAM. Since we have no capacitor, have a 1T1R architecture, and are area based, we can scale down to below 10nm eventually.

But currently, we just do not have the endurance level required to replace DRAM, without sacrificing speed.

Storage class memory does not need to replace DRAM, rather it needs to be near DRAM speeds with persistence and at lower cost. This is what we have, and what we are shooting for.

This difference of strategy is why Wilbert left, imo.
