Curious why would it not make sense to remain quiet if the situation is not looking rosy, while you come up with alternate options? Wouldn't you wait until you had some alternate plan to offer in conjunction with a less than ideal release:

Option A - Sorry guys looks like there isn't much interest. Let us get back to you.
Option B - Sorry guys looks like there isn't much interest, BUT, we think by doing xyz we will get the interest because of ABC, and so we are now going to do this and that.

I don't think the long silence is evidence either way of good or bad. But we do have the history of PL3 failure where there was silence for a long time then bang.
