This NDA/CA as part of the the JDA with WD keeps popping up time and time again as though it is stopping 4DS disclosing information about their own work.

It doesn't stop 4DS discussing their own technology or IP.

It stops 4DS from disclosing information about WD they may learn in the course of working with them under the JDA, that WD has decided not to make public. For example, WD might be working on a new cloud storage device that would benefit from RERAM of the type 4DS is developing. That information might drive 4DS's development work in a specific direction. WD wouldn't want 4DS disclosing that information.

Likewise, WD would be learning about what 4DS RERAM can do via the testing they are doing. It's not WD's information to share and 4DS would be rightly upset if WD spilled the beans before 4DS was ready to discuss it.
