Just a technical question. I understand the reasons for likely increased speed with a scaling to 20nm due to less resistance.
What are the likely effects on endurance with a scaling down?
My rudimentary technical knowledge (which may well be flawed) is that being non-filamentary it should be easier to scale down with lower operating stresses on physical attributes of the chip. Is this an accurate assessment? Also, as the chip becomes faster does this reduce the number of endurance cycles? or is the lower electrical charge required to operate the cell likely to improve endurance? I am assuming the greater the charge, the more heat is produced and the faster the cell degradation. I know there are probably many other factors.
I guess I’m just trying to determine what are the possible/likely negatives to scaling down (if any) .
