One note regarding this subject - I believe that WeBit have done some (or are doing some) 20nM development; they have not released any results that I know of ... methinks that 28nM arrays are a thing in simple systems, but it will be interesting to see what the results are from both 4DS and WBT. The requirements for WBT are different to that of 4DS, purely because of their target market, so what may work for one will not necessarily be right for the other.
I posted quite a while ago (before the PL5 announcement) that I hoped they would develop further, but I was thinking 40nM; this leap to 20nM must have a basis , but what that is has not been revealed.
I am certain that imec would not lightly commit to utilising their valuable resources to delve into this if they did not have faith in their ability to provide some sort of positive outcome.
Time will tell ...
