    IMEC have a full roster of development programs - companies fight to get in their labs. They exercise discretion in what they take on based on technical merit, achievability and potential market impact - yes customers still have to pay, but the size of the chequebook is not the sole criteria.

    They don't burn diesel on any old thing. Success in development boosts their industry relevance and in turn demand for their services.
