I don't know if you are aware, but Australia is a world leader in quantum computing. From memory, the UNSW quantum computing research centre was the first to achieve a stable quibit cell in silicon and they have one of the fastest quantum computers in the world.
Nothing wrong with "playing a match on your home turf"
Especially if you get to mix it with some bleeding edge players. You don't know attends these things. A lot of big companies have people that tour the world attending these sort of conferences. There may be someone that 4DS knows is attending that they really want to bend the ear of. I'd rather do it in a smaller forum, rather than a massive one in the US where the company could get lost in all the noise.
