Don't see any reason why 4DS with IMEC need to prove Gb SCM. The Goal is to prove the technology can be developed using the same production equipment as high volume chip manufacturers. The science as you know has already been proven and endorsed by Western Digital.

1Mb chip is the minimum requirement to prove the above and the data collected from the 1Mb Non-filamentary interface switching ReRAM chip is again the minimum requirement for industry chip manufacturers or chip buyers to make an informed decision (acquisition offer).

The 7 year old partnership with Western Digital combined with the latest endorsement from IMEC to move onto the 1Mb chip adds very strong credibility to what 4DS has on offer.

(Speculating, but throwing it out there) Who knows, IMEC may have found a way to tune the speed of our SCM technology only to find it to be faster than DRAM (unlikely, but not impossible).
