I honestly don't know for 4DS how long the road is ahead - so best not to count me in on this opinion.

What I have said is there's still a long road ahead to getting a product to sale that is, something a datacentre builder can order up for their servers, even longer to the point where the average consumer can walk into a PC parts shop and buy RERAM boards or a smartphone with "4DS on board." Whether 4DS is still in the driver's seat all the way to that destination is a point of conjecture. I would like to see 4DS build the company by using income from license sales and revenue to develop new products that can also be licensed and so on and so forth, but there are wiser heads that don't think this is the case.

Whatever the outcome, 4DS has to maintain a development program and keep pushing the limits of the technology. Taking the PL6 fab as a success, now the company needs to work on the control layers that allow for read and write access down to the individual cell level, that make the most of the tunability capability.

20nm is supposed to be enough for the company to be given IMEC's blessing and personal introduction. That may play out as an offer. But they have the Infineon development work to keep the company moving forward as well. Soon Infineon will get to look under the hood of PL6 under the auspices of technology development. Will a competitor want them to get that far?
