A simple explanation of why 4ds reram is so unique and special.


DRAM: A Switchboard of Momentary Switches

• Analogy: Think of DRAM like an old telephone switchboard, where each key is a momentary switch.

• You press a button to connect a call, but it springs back immediately—unless someone keeps holding it down.

• Likewise, DRAM constantly needs power (refresh cycles) to maintain its state. As soon as power goes out, the memory forgets everything.

Filamentary ReRAM / NAND: Hard On-Off Switches

• Analogy: Now imagine mechanical light switches—solid, physical toggles that stay put once flipped.

• You flip the switch, and it stays in position—either on (1) or off (0)—until you flip it again.

• This is like filament-based ReRAM or NAND, where a physical change (filament formation or charge trapping)sets the bit state.

• However, over time, the switch can wear out from being flipped too many times—just like filaments degradewith use.

• Analogy: 4DS memory is like a piano keyboard, where how you press (touch, pressure, and timing) modulates sound, not just the key itself.

• The key doesn't physically flip a switch—instead, it interacts with the internal mechanics (hammers, strings) to produce a result based on interface behavior.

• Similarly, 4DS memory modulates electronic interface states (not physical structures like filaments) to change resistance levels.
