Random Saturday thought bubble, but if 4DS tech is a great new memory, works as advertised, and can be integrated across multuple application types, while having the ability to use existing BEOL processes in current chip FAbs, then who would have the most to gain from such a tech?
I want to throw it out there that someone like Intel could be a big winner in this scenario. Intel have been a laggard in chip manufacturing for over a decade now, and their Fabs are not currently as capable as TSMC (for example). However could a killer memory (ie a successful 4DS) bring them back into the limelight without a huge investment in a new Fab?
I'd be interested in other forum learned members thoughts inc @mjshackl @Flectional. Or would Intel not be in a position to do this?
