    Considering that I've read repeatedly in the last 12 months that Western Digital are still trying to flog a dead horse with technologies to extend the life of the HDD (e.g., https://blocksandfiles.com/2019/12/10/western-digital-mamr-or-hamr-drives/), I'd say they absolutely do need a technology like 4DS. They're just not putting all their eggs in one basket, and nor should they.
