True... but flu has been around forever, comes in a predictable pattern each year, has vaguely effective immunisation and treatment, understood pathophysiology, well established complications, widespread partial immunity. I could go on.
this isn’t about mortality rates, it’s about controlling the spread of a (mostly) relatively mild illness such that entire populations are not all unwell at the same time.
