IMO the appointment of Dr van was to have an independent on board who has no relationship or affiliation with western digital / IMEC and therefore no loyalty.
which I think is why JD stepped aside, a very cool move by him. over the years JD would've made good relationships with these ppl.
Dr Van couldn't give 2 sh*ts about 7 years joint partnership. it's strictly business.
