I did not realise the extent of work that was being done to overcome the challenges to general computer architecture (and how long it had been going on for) in order to provide the platform required to run the processes associated with AI.
It makes it a little clearer (in my mind, anyway) as to why 4DS is suddenly so interested in the AI world ... RERAM would certainly have an impact here when one considers the compromises are required to produce a GPU that can operate (and will continue to operate) in the AI market.
