Hash, a little investigative work on upmem will show they have had western digital vc funding for some time and that their pim architecture is dram embedded ...in fact an architecture that incorporates leading edge dram.
WD have been ....lets just say very interested in upmems ablilty to complete its chip based outcome allowing it to accelerate integration with tier 1 data clients with no programming changes etc.
This may also have particular relevance in light of the positions vacant lately.
