4ds architecture principled on low voltage energy switching occurring through interface (no filament) to contact film of calcium metal oxide based in praseodymium. Industry first in reram.
Rumoured to be aligned with Mott transition switching...something Symetrix originally developed.
WD invested vc through hgst to assist development same interface switching with 4ds (4ds' baby)......hence IMEC chip development very exciting. Preliminaries suggest outcomes will exceed imaginable expectations for data storage capacity, switching speed, energy efficiency etc etc.
Upmem focused on pim in dram.....hence 4ds significantly differs....
Metrics stack up this baby flies away and the dream is realised.
Very different to upmem in that respect, yet just as exciting.
Why....WD have strengthened their partnership with IMEC recently to include new gen logic devices, mem equipment, advanced patterning systems as well as nano system technologies.
