good move.. you're right in that this could catch people unaware, if the eventual payout is in shares.. 30% to the IRS if you sell !! Better to be safe on this one, just in case.
I just opened a commsec international trading account, after filling out my details the process ended with "click ok to submit the W8BEN form", so that was easy enough.
