Lots of shorting strategies. Doesn't matter if you short a stock you own. Can short a stock to avoid a CGT trade. Super funds can monetize their equities by a shorting strategy.
In the case of 4DS specifically ... just like an entity could go long a sector, so it could go short a sector ... so the risk is spread.
The point of that previous post ... for those that choose to look a little deeper ... the market agrees with you Nutsy ... less shorting on 4DS than direct competitors in the space ... WBT and BRN particularly.
It does suggest BRN might be worth watching for a trade as it'll probably get a short squeeze on and make a rather nice short covering rally trading opportunity. I'm watching for this as short covering rallies are generally the steepest.
