If you think that a possible purchaser of our IP is interested in
A) The company ie: 4DS and
B) The SP or the shareholders of the company, then you are on cloud 9.

The only thing that will sell the IP is for them to see the cells in operation on IMEC's Dory Platform and see the results for themselves.
In regards to WBT. WBT is Developing and/or producing multiple solutions for the ReRAM Market including Embedded, Discrete, PIM, Edge AI, Neuromorphic, for multiple applications like Aerospace & Space applications, Automotive, MCU's, Controllers, sensors etc from 130nm down to at this stage 22nm.
The issue is not the geometry size, it is building enough confidence in a potential purchaser to either change from the "Tried and True" technology they are using to (with the tested potential of greater speed, retention, lower power consumption, greater endurance and lower cost of manufacturing) WBT's technology. It is a huge risk to both parties and and it takes time and a lot of money to change from one technology to another. It is possible that the first fully commercial run could be for a new product. This would be a shame as it would not showcase the advantages over the incumbent.
Why I am say this is that, even though we are selling IP and not a product , the risk is still the same and will take a lot of time and a huge amount of effort to get someone to purchase the IP and to weigh up the cost and time to change the IP to a product.
There will be a huge timespan and greater costs to bring it to a commercially viable product or range of products.
It has taken WBT up to now to produce a commercial product. We are still playing around at cell level.
What is 4DS IP worth??? There is always something else around the corner that could be better than what we have. The longer we hold onto the IP the greater risk of being made redundant by something else.
As a side note GF are using WBT cells in one of their products.

You're right - if 4DS cannot get traction from a buyer on the basis of PL5 & 6 results (esp. PL6) alone - they will have to have a hard look at commercialisation of the tech. ie. development of a product that customers can get their hands on.

Something like a plug and play system memory card (DIMM module) - swap out the DRAM based memory in your system for 4DS RERAM.

There would be a lot of development required to create an on-card controller that can manage the flow of data to and from this card.

So a lot of money to spend.

But at the end of it, you can demonstrate the value of the product in a plug and play device. It wouldn't be the optimal solution (ie. one that requires a whole of system approach) but if customers can see a measurable decrease in energy usage and an increase in performance - it would provide a compelling case for someone with very deep pockets to take it further.
