Not entirely true Psyanite - the ASX has clamped down on companies using the ASX announcement channel to announce news that is not material and could be construed as company promotion. Talking about a new product that is being launched to market for instance. I think that is entirely fair as ASX announcements should be reserved for statutory reporting requirements and material milestones.

Although I would say there are inconsistencies in the application - for example an oil and gas explorer will announce that they have successfully spudded a well and are drilling to target depth, anticipated to reach in X weeks. Announcing the start of the fabrication of a platform lot in my mind is not totally dissimilar.

Fortunately there are other channels for this info - LinkedIn for instance - just posting that, "The next Platform Lot has begun, we are looking forward to its completion in 3 months time. This is an exciting step along our development path." I can't see how the ASX or IMEC could object to that info being shared - often we hear about it after the fact in a quarterly update.
