That is the 4th shark sighting on Mandurah beach in a week

Both sides of WA government ramping up the topic of shark encounters now

It appears Gracetown is the guinea pig for drum lines and the Spectur system

“Shadow fisheries minister Libby Mettam said the Mandurah community had been calling for a trial of SMART drum lines in the local area.

“Given four shark sightings in the past week ... it provides further justification for the extension of such a trial at other locations, such as the Dawesville-Mandurah area,” she said.

Fisheries Minister Dave Kelly said a decision on deploying SMART drum lines at Mandurah would be made after a scientific trial at Gracetown was completed.”

This should be easy lobbying for SP3, if the WA government are happy to roll out drum lines at huge expense (without much scientific evidence) the shark warning system on all unpatrolled beaches and surf breaks at a pittance of the cost is a no brainer
