Hi all, I'm the guilty one who started this thread....hope it's not going to be responsible for a civil war. There seems to be more interest in this subject than in my infrequent posts on shares. Thanks to everyone for your contributions......both entertaining and helpful. A special thanks to woddonnee (rod) for a particularly interesting and informative post.
I was looking to redistribute some ill-gotten gains from the share market into the motor industry. The new vehicle would be predominately for country driving with the odd off-road excursion. Have tested and been impressed by each of the vehicles in my initial post. If I had to define a negative for each it would be as follows:
Discovery and Sport:considerably heavier than the others and a smaller diesel motor.
BMW X5: Suspension a little firm for country bumps and no low range.
ML320cdi: Snob factor and a slightly flawed predecessor.
It would be interesting to have some views from owners of about 12 months standing, although not possible for the last mentioned recently released vehicle.
