Depends whether you are buying the vehicle to be used as a 4WD or just as an SUV / wagon.
To me fuel consumption isn't a qualifier so much as the vehicle's on road / off road ability and manners. Service costs are more relevant imo if you do high mileage...the "capped service costs" could be exhausted far sooner.
Be mindful with vehicles such as X5's and some other large constant 4wd's the cost of keeping rubber on it can become an issue as well being the heavy vehicle will tear up tyres on bitumen at an alarming rate...at the mileage you are doing you may be replacing a set of tyres annually...
