It doesn't actually matter if some stop repayments. 90 - 95% of fee revenue comes from repeat customer use of the facility. There may be a portion of this cohort who temporarily lose their income/ability to repay.
The prejudiced/biased view of APT customers income/demographic has been proven to be false over & over again - so yes, probably will be a spike in bad debts, stagnant/low growth for six months. This will return to growth as soon as the economy does. The switch away from credit cards to paying debts off within 30 days is only just starting in my view. Afterpay & other BNPL will continue to grow, albeit at a slower pace in the next few months & with slightly higher bad debt expenses. The current situation is not an existential threat.
