Resistance to tamiflu appeared only 3-4 months after the outbreak; this is a concern.
The way tamiflu operates on the molecular level is different to that of relenza. Relenza is more unlikely to select resistant strains.
Seasonal flu is almost 100% resistant to tamiflu and all you need is someone with both seasonal and swine flu strains for mixing to occur.
The number of tests they actually do for tamiflu resistance is (or was) very low. In the US it was only a few hundred.
It would not be in any government's advantage to find that their main antiviral (as held in govt stocks) was useless.
