when it hit someone's strike price, look at the short term frenzy. It dropped to like 5.8 for about 5 mins then built up and raised quickly, i think that confirms your thought of everyone sitting on the sideline waiting for someone to blink first.

I believe though, there might be intraday spikes, but this wont really move till the RI's havetheir shares and mashala is completed.

Cos its 'through' but the Sth African govt still have to sign off, which is a mere formality, but why not just wait if you were thinking you could get in at same price in 1 months time when its been confirmed.

Still i think its a great LT buy, got no idea ST one way or another and frankly I dont care. But fun to talk about nonetheless :)
