short selling and CFD's are very legal, but they also have a very damaging effect on the integrity of the markets.
professional shorters will do just about anything to minimise their loss on shorted stock or CFD trades (including taking a short term hit to temporarily push price down)
do you really think GGG should be trading at 35c in light of this 'game changing' news released today
