AP targets 1400 km road network
In an attempt to give push to the infrastructure development, the state government has decided to revamp the road network by building roads commanding a total length of 1400 km in the state. The roads and buildings department has been mandated to launch the works cleared by the government on war footing and complete all the projects as scheduled. The government has readied a blueprint to lay roads across the state in the next two years. The R&B department estimated that it would require at least Rs. 1000-1500 crore to complete the 1300-1400 km road network. The state has already completed construction of roads for about 382 km at a cost of Rs. 160 crore and roads with 1000 km length have been targeted in the next 30 months. According to source,s the department lined up works upto a length of another 500 km and plan to finalise the works of remaining 500 km in the next couple of months, they added.
