The big C is the cause if the commodity price appreciation. That is what makes it difficult to wean off. China's steel demand is what creates the follow up demand. The demand on the other nations cannot replace it. India will be the next in terms of creating a similar demand however they do have a huge self sufficiency unlike the Chinese contribution. So remember its when a nation with a large population embarks on an urbanization orchestra, then yes demand can be replaced. The other benefit is china not only produces to supply its local needs. It also exports to other bastions, especially nations it supports and entraps in the belt road project. I know as China Harbour controls all mega projects - the benefit is 70 30 Chinese way with product imports and labour imports. Hence this is why they need to produce steel beyond their local requirements.
