    Hendrous,
I honestly think they have got it right with the 'make good' rules.

I agree that BG and STO would not be happy with a conditional approval - but they would be less happy with a straight out approval.

This is politics, not just business.

A conditional approval was good enough for Gorgon.

    Inhabitants of Gorgon = 0.

    Inhabitants of S.QLD = 100,000?

There is a lot more politics involved with this decision than for a few snub nosed turtles.

So with a conditional approval, comes an emphasis on approval. A go ahead. We are still watching. But get out there and drill baby drill, do it safely, try not to ruffle too many feathers; but do it soon because we need jobs jobs jobs and revenue.

    SF

PS: a passing thought on the use of natural gas for SE Asia and concerns over the appetite for ore and coking coal. Natural Gas is a consumed commodity - its what people use, after they have developed their country and raised their standard of living. So the slip in the market today is a welcome long term indicator of what goods are going to be in demand for the future. If anything, our shares should be up on this news ;)
