you're right LNC have the best skills currently available in UCG, which is the most critical part of this combination. However, on the GtL side I don't think they have any experience and that's still important.
I'm not against LNC - far from it - the script is doing well so I hope that continues (for my benefit).
I'm just trying to be objective about the prospects and the challenges. And questioning some choices they are making on the technical side. No one has the answers and we all have to wait and see how things go on the ground.
There's lots of speculation etc. though on the financial and technical aspects. As mentioned I think the challenges will be on the scale-up on that's an area where LNC don't have the experience and will need cash and I think experience from somewhere else.
And for one, I think long term using air is a curious choice. However I think LNC went for it because its cheap and its the easiest oxidant to work with from a well integrity perspective. And most previous UCG experience is with air gasification - but the syngas from those operations was either flared or used for power applications - not chemical synthesis, which is what the GtL process is.
