This Western Australian plant seems to be the most-likely-to-be-built solar power plant of this scale in Australia.
I am surprised at the $5/Watt price tag on it though. 5kW domestic systems without the economies of scale are at or below that figure. BPSolar must be going to gold plate the substation!
At a similar metric, the Bovis Lend Lease/Tru Energy Mildura power plant (estimate 100MW using First Solar CdTe panels at 11% efficiency and supposedly 75cents/Watt manufacturing cost) is going to cost $500,000,000.00. The Victorian government has claimed to have guaranteed $100,000,000.00 of this; I recall another $25M was promised by the Feds or Vics (can't recall) leaving $350,000,000.00 to be found before the Victorian mirage solidifies.
