I'm not living in fear. ARI were small beer to me. I'm living in relief that I no longer hold this dog of a company. After holding for 15 years I got 2c per share which is more than I thought I would. I'm having pizza with extra toppings tonight! Putting it in perspective, I got ARI for nothing which is about what they're worth. And it was a great learning lesson. In future, any company spunout from one I already own gets the chop instantly. And I don't mean lamb chop. From Dick Smith, (not held) I learned never to believe anything private equity tells you.
For those doing what I did, and as the tax year close is not that far off the salient figures for CGT are:
a) those who acquired via the 1 for 4 issue Oct 2000 (most original holders) the cost base is 66c per share.
b) those who bought fully paid in October 2000 the cost base is $2.64.
Happy tax loss! That should cheer you up a bit!
