Latest data, eg reporting what is actually happening, has Arctic ice coverage 60% greater than this time last year.
As for Antarctica, satellite data has the ice coverage at its highest extent since satellite data began.
Go with the actual data. Warming has paused since 1998 which is admitted to in the upcoming IPCC report (well the draft from last week). The IPCC has no real answer to why it has paused. Some thought that the 'heat' is being absorbed by the oceans at depths greater than 700m. Why this 'heat' from an airborne substance would suddenly plunge down into the depths of the ocean is not really explained. Lifestyle choice maybe?
The Medieval warming period regains its gloss. The IPCC admits that parts of Europe back in the 1250s etc were as least as warm as they are now and were so for decades.
The previous link that cyclones and tornadoes were probably caused by global warming has been deleted.
What is apparent, and this comes from Hans Von Storch a lead author for the IPCC, is that this pause in warming has not been predicted by any of the main global warming models (35 models from memory). Van Storch says there is only a 2-5% confidence level that the current global warming models are accurate. And if the pause continues for another 3-5 years there will be 0% confidence in the accuracy of the global warming models.
In conclusion, the sensitivity of climate warming to increasing levels of carbon dioxide has been overstated. And this will be absolutely confirmed in as little as 3-5 years.
As someone else stated, too late for this party, better go find the next global catastrophe. Personally, I'm betting pandemic...or zombies. Zombies would be cool...until they eat your brains!
