    SIV is a pretty good model of HIV and it has been until recently impossible to cure monkeys of SIV. The work Gilead did in this area is really encouraging as it suggests that a cure for HIV is possible - if you had asked me 5 years ago if we would ever have a cure for HIV I would have said right after we have a cure for herpes.

    To lighten the mood here is a nice herpes joke. What is the difference between true love and herpes? Herpes lasts forever.
