    You ought to venture back to Planet Earth in the here and now, UT...... perhaps put yourself in the shoes of a young person on a semi-decent wage trying to save up, say $150K, for a deposit.

    Some things are cheaper now, white goods, cars..... but costs to service/repair things are exorbitant, utilities have gone up a lot. I remember as a young person renting in the 70's..... paying electricity bills was never a problem, water was cheap too.... no stress there.

    As for house prices, they were ridiculously cheap relative to wages..... some have very selective memories.
