The only thing I don't like about ASX instos is that too many of them are value oriented and just won't buy growth stocks unless they have to.

Even if we get into the big indices, I fear a lot of them will be underweight APT because they can't justify the price on traditional valuation metrics (which is dumb, but they need to at least sound smart in their jobs since they under perform the indices).

I personally think Atlassian is overrated but they are at all time highs on the NASDAQ. No way would they be a US$43 billion market cap if they were on the ASX.

In America the growth investor pool is quite significant, not to mention all those hedge funds.

I looked at APT XRO WTC PME PPH NEA APX ALU etc...last year and basically concluded that compared to overseas companies selling into world markets, they were way more expensive based on growth rates. I trade overseas stocks mostly so I am across it. Only APT and maybe XRO were undervalued or fairly valued. I concluded that there is a very small pool of local growth companies with truly global opportunities and lots of money chasing them.

I agree APT is controversial, but so was XRO at $15, same story about lack of profits. That changed quickly after they announced one, and will be the same with APT in a year or two
