50 sheep

I rounded up 50 sheep today to be put on the Ute a number of times early this morning so as to drop them off at the final holding pens, awaiting transport to the saleyards. It took 5 trips to get them all into the final holding pens and was it mostly fairly easy to get them into the last holding pen for them to bolt into the Ute (with a cage), after all was ready.

It struck me how strange it was that it only took one of them to lead for the others to follow in or out of the Ute as the case may be, or for the leading sheep to stubbornly stamp and hiss, turn and refuse to budge with the others doing the same.

It's possibly a little bit like the market, any market,as the leader is so vital to market direction when the owner, in this case, decides that Lamb is a good price to sell into.
