Not sure I'm on the same wave length. But suppose our income was in AUD and we owed One Billion USD this time last year when the AUD = USD then of course we would have owed One Billion AUD. Now the AUD is worth .76 of the USD we would now have to find One Billion divide by 76 multiply 100. So now we would have to find 1.33 Billion AUD to pay off the loan.
Is that what you are getting at?
Imagine the trouble the Russians are in now that their currency has halved. I'm trying to find out how their export contracts are priced (I think it is Petrodollars). If their contracts were written in Rubles and we were paying in USD we would only have to pay half the amount of USD. (I think I've got that right!)
