CATL's MP3 battery combined with the Qilin battery pack will likely a Tesla 1000km of charge although they may choose to keep it down to around 700kM to save cost. The Qilin Battery pack allows volume utilization to exceed 72 percent and energy density to reach 210+ Wh/kg, easily allowing vehicles to achieve a range of 1000 km, CATL have stated. While the precise chemistry of the new MP3 batteries isn’t known, the new battery about to go into volume production in to supply Tesla is an improved version of the LFP chemistry where the iron (F) is replaced with a mix of magnesium, zinc, and aluminium. So the MP3 is still a lithium phosphate battery with an energy density of arounfd 210 Wh/Kg but at the same cost as existing LFP batteries, with hopes they can eventually achieve 500. Meanwhile Tesla have stated they want to introduce a similar battery using for their 4680 dry manufacturing process but have been beaten to the punch but it matters not, for they desperately need batteries from all comers to meet demand. So this high volume tech is available this year and with incremental change is creeping up towards aviation capable batteries where Li-S strives to be however may well have both the energy desity and weight advantage plus rapid charging...... Li-S has massive advantages but needs a heavyweight partner to catapault it into manufacture if it wants to play with the big boys..... capable of spending billions setting up a new high volume factory that is up and running in months, not years
