Wow, massive news today, VW are getting Xpeng tio produce electric vehicles in China, an admission that there own battery and EV tech is crap. They take 30 hours to make an EV vs Tesla's 10. They and other big boys in automotive are basically just assemblers eg Ford has over 100 controllers in their cars, none of which they can reprogram as its owned by each individual component supplier. Only BYD and Tesla can profitably produce an electric car. We are seeing a pardigm shift simailar to when the Apple iPhone disrupted the mobile phone handset market. Toyota (and all the Jap manufacturers), VW, Ford, GM are in big big trouble and know it, with not far off a trillion $ of debt backed by the value of conventional car plants that are now effectively worthless as new EV factories have to be built from scratch..... and all the 3 largest car markets now demand EV's. WOW WOW WOW... batten down the hatches and watch the biggest disruption occur in front of our very eyes.... there is a chance one of the big boys might come looking for battery tech to leapfrog the competition out of desperation very soon iMHO similar as VW just did with Xpeng. Toyata, Stellantis, GM, Ford and others are toast and they know it, even the mighty german and japanese car industries are down on their knees, they are producing the = of Nokia push button phones when car buyers now want a smartphone.... and like them, EV's need far larger and efficient battery packs
