you can't short oex as you have suggested.[if you stick to the rules] the real problem is that there is nothing to stop a fund borrowing the stock and naked selling it anyway. this has been the major problem with the market. its been a closed shop and no one knows what has been shorted and how many shares. there is nothing to have stopped this happening in oex since a lot of the stock is being held by custodians. I am more inclined to think the buyers are legitimate and may have come out of the recent London Oilbarrel presentation. dyor.
