It’s he who doesn’t understand the Australian market, not the other way around. The ASX gives self-funding, growing tech businesses richer valuations than the NASDAQ - see Xero and REA vs. the FAANGs.
If he thinks the business is undervalued rather than Americans being the greater fools, he should be grateful that he was given the deferred component of the buyout in FDV equity and laser-focussed on growing profit and cashflow, so no market can ignore the undervaluation. As a large equity holder himself he should be salivating at the opportunity.
It also begs the question why he isn’t buying shares on market.
