The business section in the West Australian has revealed that BHP has unveiled a $525 billion increase in the copper resource at the Escondida mining complex in Northern Chile. The 54 million tonne increase is worth more than $US1 trillion tonnes before mining and treatment costs. It would mean the mine could still be operating in 100 years.
Just gives you faith in their assessment of tier 1 assets. They have only selected tier 1 assets recently and hopefully the shale gas acquisitions turn out the be as good as the company hopes.
